It was so great being back in church last week. It made me feel like I was almost back to normal, whatever that means. It was better than any pain pill. I was so grateful for all the kind words and expressions of love from you. We all want to think we will be missed but you really made me feel it. Thanks again for all the help from all those that filled in while I was out. We celebrated Ruth’s 89Th birthday last Sunday as well, what a remarkable woman is she.
This week I want to talk about a lesson Jesus has for us in Matthew the 6Th Chapter verses 1-4. This is part of the sermon on the mount and Jesus is teaching about something we talk about all the time. Do good things and do them for the right reasons. Jesus says the only way that your good deeds will matter when it comes to heavenly rewards is they are done for the right reason. So often we think we are doing something good but when we look close we see we had the wrong motive to do this good thing. This is a tough standard. We want our kids to do the right things like being polite and making good grades etc, and we expect them to do these because we ask them to. Jesus says the good things we do have to come from the heart and out of love. It matters why we do the things we do. I would hope that the motivation for our good deeds is because Jesus has set us the example. I hope you will be with us this Sunday as we discuss why do we do what we do?
We had a great day at the Fair on Wednesday. We did not have as many as usual but we had a GREAT time. We are only able to do this because of the donations we receive from 2 great organizations that support us each year. I am very grateful and pray they are blessed as they have blessed us. I received a letter from Shelly this week but we only had 1 days notice of her hearing date. Don and Brenda were able to attend and hopefully they will have some additional information on Sunday. I hope you are all doing well and we are praying for God’s blessing on you and this ministry. If you have a special prayer request please call me and let me pray with you. Keep doing good things for the right reasons and we will see you Sunday.
We love you so much,
Pastor David & Pris
