Good afternoon to the loyal followers of BBT. We had a great time last week as we had several guest as well as some members who had been out for a while. Priscilla shared with us the comparison of our physical death and our spiritual death. There was a lot in common. I read the story of the Good Samaritan from Luke last week and talked about how we need good neighbors as well as being a good neighbor. We have had a Good Samaritan in our midst this year in Craig, but last week was his last week. He is going into the ministry and we are excited for what God has for him, but we will surely miss him.
As we start the month of July this week we will be celebrating our independence on the 4Th. As I was making plans for a sermon this week I wanted to speak about freedom. In this country we cherish our freedom. In the Gospel of John Jesus talks about how we can be free, not just free but free indeed. In chapter 8 vs 31-36 Jesus says the truth will make you free. In our society when we talk about being free we may be talking about being free FROM something. Jesus wants us to be free TO something. Jesus says we are slaves to sin but he says when we trust in him we are no longer slaves to sin but we are free to overcome our sin and be free indeed. I hope you will join us this week as we celebrate our Independence, and induct a new member into the ring of honor.
Please continue to pray for the prayer request made last week. Remember Cathy as she recovers at home from her surgery. If you have a special prayer request please call me and let’s pray together. I hope you were a good neighbor to someone this week, and I hope you will invite someone to join us this week at BBT. Do good things and I will see you on Sunday!
We love you so much,
Pastor David & Pris
