Last Sunday at BBT was special! Linda led Sunday School and showed us how we need to be reading the scriptures. She showed us how we need to read several different translations when we come across scripture we are having a hard time to understand. We need to understand the context of the scripture around it so we can see what God wants us to receive from this scripture. It is not how fast we read the scriptures it is how we understand it. We need to take the time and effort to understand what it is God is saying to us. We “may not be there yet” but we are on our way. Larry shared with us how important it is for us to have men and women with character to lead us. As Christians, we may be having a hard time getting behind any of the two front running candidates we have right now but Larry reminded us God is in control and HE is our savior. He is the one we look to and seek after. We are responsible to help find people with character to lead us. I hope you enjoyed the service as much as I did. We had a couple visitors last Sunday and we really appreciate getting to meet them.
This week I want to share with you something that God gave me this week. As I looked around I see so much unforgiveness even in our churches. It is so easy to fall in the trap of holding a grudge. We have lost several members of our congregation, even as small as we are, because of unforgiveness. Jesus makes it very clear in our scripture verses this week as to what happens to people who refuse to forgive. Listen forgiveness is by far one of the hardest things for us to do. It is right up there with loving people who do not love you back and trusting God even when you can’t see anything but despair and grief. It is not me asking you to forgive, God is commanding it. Our scripture verse this week will be Matthew 18: 21-35. You need to read this story again this week before you come to church and see if there is any unforgiveness in your heart that needs to be dealt with. I hope you will be with us on Sunday as we see how God will help us truly forgive.
Remember those mentioned in our prayer request last Sunday and keep this ministry in your thoughts and prayers. If you have a special need that needs pray please call me or Larry and let us pray with you. I hope you have a great week and remember people will know who you serve by the way you treat other people. Forgiveness is where it begins, Love is where it ends. We will see you Sunday!!!
We love you so much,
Pastor David & Pris
