Message for January 24
First of all, I missed being with all of you yesterday. I look forward to seeing everyone next week and talking about my favorite subject. Pastor David started off the year by explaining how important love is. I couldn’t resist the opening to continue that discussion. I hope that as we embark upon the reading of the entire Bible we will all see the love that is written into the pages of His word.
I know some people who bristle when I say that God is love. In part I understand, because sometimes we forget that His love also requires justice and we leave out that part of the message. However, that’s exactly what the Bible says about Him. Read 1 John 4:7-5:3. This will serve as a rough outline for what I want to share with you. In this passage we see “God is love” in two places. This simple statement changed my life from the time I first read it at the age of seventeen from my Braille King James New Testament. I wish I could say I now understand what it means, but I suspect it will take the whole of eternity to do that and we’ll still have more to learn. The material I am presenting was intended to kick off an eight part series that I once did as a Bible study. The Bible has so much to say on this topic, but I’ll try not to cram all eight lessons into one. 🙂 See you there!
