Praise and Prayer Requests from Sunday Service of January 9
Why do we do this every week? Some might wonder, so I’ll try to explain. The tradition of allowing time during each service for prayer requests is common to many churches, and I suppose that it has been a practice at BBT as long as it has existed.
Shortly after Linda and I began coming in 2008, the pastor asked me to build us a web site, which I was happy to do. I imagined more than just a source of information about the church. I saw potential for an online extension of our community. I created a page for prayer requests and began transcribing our Sunday sessions so that we could all refer to them in our personal prayer time throughout the week.
Pastor David seemed to like this, so I kept doing it. Over time we also began to emphasize the importance of thanking the Lord for the good things He gives us in addition to listing our requests. we starting putting that first, and I dutifully kept transcribing. We are a church with more than the usual challenges, and I think it is important for the world to see that we still find reason to thank and praise our Lord for what He does in our lives. I try to be careful not to reveal too much, since this is a platform truly open to the world.
And so we begin. Rejoice with us and pray with us.
Cathy’s brother is starting to get out some and they enjoyed spending time with him last week. Cindy enjoyed time with family and she got some wood for her fireplace. Cathy was able to get a good deal on gas. I enjoyed an early gift of birthday treats from my sister. Anita is thankful to be doing well with dialysis.
Pray for Pris and Kimi. Remember Priscilla’s sister Jo as she is facing side-affects from her chemotherapy. Cathy asks prayer for the Bowling family, friends of hers who have covid cases in the family. The daughter also has lupus. Pray for the Gibson family and Harvest Oaks Church. As of last night’s Facebook post, Jay is improving and may be sent home with oxygen. His brother is recovering. June is home on oxygen and struggling. Several in the church had it and they canceled services for a wile. Everyone is getting better. Pray for Cindy’s sister Char who may have covid and lives with several family members. Pray for Don as she continues testing to get on the kidney transplant eligibility list. Barbara A is still in a lot of pain. Kay asked for prayer.
Be an answer to prayer this week.
