The Bartimaeus Blog 2021.21
Hello friends! It’s a beautiful morning as I write this. My prayer for you this week is that you experience in your heart the joy of the Lord. I pray that you feel His presence as I have this week and that you can walk in His peace.
I’ve heard from Priscilla that she hopes to be back on Sunday, and that only adds to my joy. I know we’ll all be glad to have her back and also Kimi. Please keep Ruth in your prayers. She has good days and not so good days. Don is doing ok. He was able to get his dialysis. Anita’s testing went well and now we are praying for good results.
I was writing in my journal yesterday, looking for inspiration about what to say this Sunday. I started thinking about worship, and specifically a form of worship that can help us to become aware of God’s presence. We have talked about what true worship is before, and I said then that it is not for us to say what is going on in someone’s heart regardless of outward form. Worship is more than singing. Worship should be a part of life.
There is nothing stopping any of us from engaging in worship in our own homes of whatever form we find most effective. That’s what I did. I stopped what I was doing, queued up my favorite playlist, and started singing. It was a beautiful experience that I have missed for much too long. I wish that for every one of us. The recognition of who Yahweh is and what He has done for us through song helps our hearts to come to a place where we are sensitive to the Holy Spirit within us.
That’s why we have the Psalms. They actually contain all the elements we find in our worship as well as some that are not as common. They teach us God’s truth, extol His virtues, and even contain prophecy. This Sunday, let’s have another look at Psalm 100. It has been used as the basis for a particular format for worship, but I want to look more broadly at what it says. I pray that we will all come away encouraged and more desirous of experiencing the awareness of God’s presence. We all want to feel close to the ones we love. No one is more worthy of our love and of our worship than He.
It will be a joy to see you all on Sunday.
Love y’all!
