The Bartimaeus Blog 2023.22
We’re in the middle of a typical Texas summer, when one looks at a high of 96 degrees with relief that it isn’t 100+. We’re having a cool snap, so come on out and join us this afternoon.
One of the things I like about going through a book of the Bible as we have been doing with John this year is that it causes me to study passages that I never really understood and haven’t yet taken the time to explore. Today’s text is from John 12:20-43, and it begins with one of those mysteries. Most of it addresses themes we are already familiar with, but what do the Greeks have to do with anything? John must have had a reason for including this detail, but it’s Greek to me. 🙂
Now having studied it, I am still not sure I fully understand the significance of the Greek’s coming to see Jesus as the starting point for what Jesus has to say, but I think the connection may be in verse 32, “And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.” Jesus came for all of us, Jew and gentile alike. There’s a lot of good stuff in here! Come get you some!
Love y’all!
