Update on Pastor David and Next Sunday
Blessings to you, BBT family and friends. This would ordinarily be the week that Linda and I would be teaching and preaching anyway, but this time was supposed to be different. We haven’t given up hope for that, but it seems unlikely right now.
The pastor asked me if I would move to next Sunday, thinking that he’d be back and ready to go and wanting to deliver his Mother’s day sermon even if a week late. We’ll still have our traditional celebration of our mothers, but it seems the pastor may not be ready to join us. I had all the material ready to go before we knew what was happening, so I decided to stick with the same passage of scripture in Luke 6:46-49. So one of us will preach on that.
I apologize for not providing more frequent updates, but the truth is we don’t know much more than we did when he went into the hospital. I’ll give you the very short version. He went in for severe headaches, and while there had a serious incident involving blood pressure and heart rate dropping dangerously low. He pulled through, but after days of testing and more complications he is unable to swallow and no cause has been determined. If he is not better tomorrow they will be moving him to another facility where they can do more for him. Please keep him and the family in your prayers.
Pray for our church as well. We are being tested to the breaking point, but I choose to believe it is a break through, not a break down. The only two people who are both properly licensed and insured for driving the church van are Tim and Pastor David. That can be remedied, but not by this Sunday. That means some of our members who most love to be in church with us will not be able to join us again this week.
I think it likely we’ll be spending a little extra time in prayer this Sunday. I hope you’ll join us and stand in agreement with us, expecting great things!
